The stew I made in the dutch oven
went over well with the family :) It was more of a soup than a stew because that is how my wife prefers it but it would be easy to thicken into a stew. I used about 1 1/2 pounds of meat. In this case I used the cheapest cut of steak available at the local grocery store, this was cheaper than buying stew meat and tastes just great. I seasoned this with Montreal Steak
seasoning and browned the meat in the dutch oven with 1/2 of a medium yellow onion. To this I added 6 cups beef broth, diced potatoes, 1 can diced tomatoes, chopped carrots and 2 bay leaves. This was a simple recipe but tasted great and could easily be modified by adding other veggies, barley, or by creating a roux after browning the meat to thicken the stew.
