Easy Barbecue

Tuesday I found some beef ribs on sale at the grocery store! This was a great thing for me as I needed something different for my family to eat, ribs are not normally in our price range, and as an added bonus I would have leftover bones for the dog.  This was an easy recipe which my whole family enjoyed and was very similar to the country style pork ribs we had a couple weeks ago. I used both ribs and chicken legs, tomatoes with green chillies, 1 can of tomato sauce, 1 tablespoon molasses, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, 1 to 2 tablespoons of ketchup, 16 oz sauerkraut, 3\4 cup beef broth.  I put everything in a pot and cooked until the chicken was ready to fall off the bones.  This was not quite long enough for the ribs, they were still a little chewy, so if you use both keep in mind that the ribs take a slightly longer cook time.  The meal was great!  The molasses and brown sugar added plenty of flavor to the light sauce, and you do not have that heavy, sugary, bottled sauce taste. Served with potaotes and a vegetable this is an excellant family meal.  If you don't have the time to watch the sauce simmer on the stove this would be a great crockpot meal, or could be done in the dutch oven while camping.
